Singer, composer, and producer with roots in jazz and folk. Born into a family of musicians in Madrid, Roy studied eight years of classical conservatory and in 2021 began unveiling his Spanish-language project with a style connected to everyday life, special moments of the day, the pleasures of routine, and its apparent insignificance.
Borland is not someone who hesitates when asked about his influences. Without pause, as if completely certain, he cites Molly Drake, Pablo Milanés, Joan Manuel Serrat, Manuel Alejandro, Juan Carlos Calderón, Arthur Russell, Linda Perhacs, Gilbert O’Sullivan, Antônio Carlos Jobim, Natalia Lafourcade, Ry Cooder, Laraaji, and Adrianne Lenker.
He has produced for some of the most prominent figures of his generation, such as El Kanka, Teo Lucadamo, Cráneo, Bejo, Teo Planell, Lola Indigo, Belén Aguilera, Tristán!, Azuleja, Nusar3000, and Barry B. His most recent works include the LP Fotografías de España, the EP Un Tiempo en Casa Solo, and the LP Considérame. He is currently preparing a new album, La Chica del Norte, with a full band, set for release in 2026.
Without a doubt, an artist destined to take his place among the greats — an astonishing musician with an overflowing personality, ready to move listeners deeply with his songs and his incredible voice.
Standing concert.
