Winner of the prestigious title of Radio-Canada Jazz Revelation 2020-2021, Carl Mayotte has established himself as one of the most prominent bassists and musicians in contemporary jazz in Quebec and across Canada. At just 16 years old, he began his professional career, and has continued to grow until completing a master’s degree in jazz performance at McGill University in Montreal.
His talent has been recognized by big names like Alain Caron and by specialized media like Bass Magazine, which have praised his technical mastery and his ability to fuse styles with naturalness and creativity.
With his third album, Escale, he won the Félix award for Best Jazz Album of the Year in 2022, a milestone that confirms his international projection. Now he presents Carnaval, a work full of life and rhythm that draws on his passion for Brazilian and Latin music, incorporating it into his jazz universe with overflowing energy.
