The Barcelona Gipsy Balkan Orchestra (BGKO) remains immersed in its primary need: creation, exploration, and learning.
Second edition, in the heart of Barcelona, at the iconic Sala Jamboree, of the musical encounters in the city that shaped the lives of the artists who have left their mark on this musical journey.
On this occasion, they are preparing something special. In one corner, Irene Zugaza, singer, violist, and composer, whose music is rooted mainly in flamenco and Latin American folk traditions, yet moves naturally through different styles from a strong personal identity. A deep voice, full of dynamics and nuance, close and honest. In another corner, Georgi Dimitrov, born in Bulgaria, based in Barcelona, and deeply experienced in Balkan music, playing the kanun, a plucked string instrument with a sound deeply rooted in the fabric of Eastern music and rarely heard in Western Europe.
A unique night to celebrate music, to celebrate life.
