Pianist Ignasi Terraza returns this year with his Around the Christmas Tree project, a festive Christmas programme presented with a renewed line-up. His regular trio is joined by Italian guitarist and vocalist Joe Pisto and singer Maria Pascual.
One of Europe’s most internationally acclaimed jazz musicians, Ignasi Terraza combines extraordinary technique with exquisite sensitivity and an unmistakable sense of swing.
Born in Bologna, Italy, singer, guitarist and composer Joe Pisto stands out for his exceptional approach to both voice and guitar, two instruments that are inseparable from his eclectic personality. With a unique personal style and an expressive, versatile voice that moves between jazz, soul and experimental vocals, his command of rhythm, phrasing, scat and dynamics makes him a virtuoso jazz instrumentalist, extending far beyond his role as a vocalist.
Maria Pascual is one of the emerging talents on the Spanish vocal scene. Winner of the 2023 Django Reinhardt Festival in France, she was selected as one of the vocalists for the official Jarabe de Palo band’s Tribute to Pau Donés tour, performing at venues across Spain. She has also performed with the Veracruz Symphony Orchestra at the Boca del Río Auditorium in Mexico.
Ignasi Terraza’s trio is completed by double bassist Horacio Fumero and drummer Esteve Pi, both regular members of his ensembles.
This exclusive quintet presents a selection of well-known international Christmas melodies and traditional songs that have become part of our collective imagination, reinterpreted through the language of jazz, blues and gospel. The programme is complemented by original compositions by Ignasi Terraza, bringing a fresh and renewed perspective to the repertoire traditionally associated with the festive season.
