Lucas Martínez & Benjamín García – “CDMX – BCN” | A Jazz Bridge Between Two Worlds
Saxophonist Lucas Martínez and bassist Benjamín García present a co-led project born from a shared desire to reconnect with their roots. Coming from Mexico and Catalonia, both musicians experienced similar journeys of exploration and rediscovery during their years abroad.
Through jazz and improvisation as a common language, the duo builds a musical bridge between Mexico City and Barcelona, blending their cultural influences into a soundscape that feels both personal and universal. The result is an album rooted in jazz, yet enriched by Mexican, Latin, and Spanish colors and rhythms.
The record features six original compositions —three by each artist— and includes two guest stars: Antonio Sánchez on drums and Marco Mezquida on piano. Each piece marks a chapter in an emotional journey, from the drive of “CDMX – BCN” and the longing of “Morriña”, to the intimacy of “Colibrí”, the reflection of “Montañas”, the hope of “Pradera”, and the joyous celebration of “La Plaza”, featuring guitarist Dariel Peniazek.
A concert that celebrates identity, connection, and the unifying power of jazz.
