Drop Collective is a 10-piece music project founded in 2016 in Barcelona. The city’s vibrant jazz scene brought its members together during their higher music studies, where they discovered shared interests in exploring sounds that combine elements of traditional Jazz with Jamaican rhythms. Since then, they have continued to explore new sounds, using a horn section with a jazz approach and a solid rhythm section, incorporating stylistic resources and effects from Reggae and Dub music. Added to all this is the voice, which performs melodies and lyrics that speak of love, freedom and respect.
The versatility of Jazz and the groove of Jamaican rhythms are the combination that defines their music, enhanced by a powerful live show designed for enjoyment and dancing.
They have performed on stages such as Rototom Sunsplash, the Voll-Damm International Jazz Festival of Barcelona, Nowa Reggae Festival, and other Reggae and Jazz festivals throughout the region. They have shared the bill with Toots & the Maytals, The Skatalites, New York Ska-Jazz Ensemble, Dr. Ring Ding (collab.), Doreen Shaffer, Ky-Mani Marley, The Melodians and Kabaka Pyramid, among other major figures of the scene.
