In his latest album, Joan Monné offers a collection of older compositions, recorded in previous projects such as his own trio, the Nou Nonet, or the group with Carme Canela, performed by a new quartet formation without drums.
For this occasion, he is joined by Rai Ferrer on double bass, with whom he had already shared multiple ensembles years earlier, Santi de la Rubia on saxophone, who had been part of his nonet, and Joan Mar Sauqué on trumpet, with whom he has collaborated in projects like Irene Reig’s The Bop Collective.
This is a formation where the experience of Monné and Ferrer meets the youth of Sauqué and de la Rubia, serving music that highlights lyricism and a perhaps old-fashioned approach, yet always in search of beauty.
