It might seem ironic, but already in 1993 people were talking about the “return of boom bap,” a rap style deeply rooted in the ’90s. Still, if boom bap and the art of rhythm and rhyme remain alive, it’s not due to nostalgia, but to the drive of new generations.

Brazilian duo Febre90s, made up of Rio MC Pumapjl and producer SonoTWS, proves it with a sound that honors classic ’90s beats—crafted with analog gear like Akai MPCs and Roland samplers—but with lyrics and energy that are fully modern.
